A family in Hwange has been struck by a heartbreaking tragedy following the deaths of Maria G. Nkoma, who passed away on 13 September 2026, and her son, Fanuel C. Nkoma, who died the following day on 14 September 2026.
The family is currently mourning at their home in Empumalanga DRC Phase 3, after relocating from Number 5.
According to information from the family, Maria had been seriously ill and was admitted to St Patrick’s Hospital while receiving medical attention. In a devastating turn of events, her son Fanuel was later declared dead at the same hospital at around 2:00 am. on 14 September.
The deaths, occurring just one day apart, have left relatives, friends and members of the community deeply saddened.
Maria and Fanuel are scheduled to be laid to rest today at Madumabisa Gardens of Rest in Number 2, where family members, friends and mourners will gather to bid them farewell.
