Following an open invitation to local leadership and stakeholders to join a scheduled verification tour, the office of the Member of Parliament for Hwange Central, Honourable Daniel Molokele, successfully conducted a whirlwind assessment of Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects across four wards on Friday, 17th April 2026.
The tour, which was coordinated through the CDF Committee and Thulani Moyo, aimed to provide a transparent look at the progress of solar-powered boreholes funded under the 2024 CDF allocation.
The delegation, comprising ward councillors, development committee members, and a technical representative from Jimmy Jimmy Borehole Company, moved through Wards 1, 4, 5, and 6 to assess the impact of these vital water projects. The technical analysis provided at each site revealed a mix of completed works and projects nearing the finish line.

Ward 4 and Ward 6 stand as the early success stories of the 2024 allocation. Both solar-powered boreholes were fully installed in February and have been providing consistent water access to residents for the past two months.
Ward 1 Verification showed that work is nearly complete. Residents can expect the borehole to begin serving the community as early as this week. Ward 5 faced significant hurdles after the initial CDF funds were exhausted, leading to a weeks-long delay. In a notable turn of events, the project was saved when Hon. Molokele personally intervened, agreeing to pay the outstanding $2,000 USD balance in cash to ensure completion. Thanks to this intervention, Ward 5 residents will also begin receiving water this week.
The afternoon concluded with a high-stakes consultation meeting at 4:00 PM between the CDF Implementation Committee and the Ward 14 Development Committee. While Ward 14 was originally slated for the fifth borehole in the 2024 proposal, the depletion of official CDF funds meant that work at the site had yet to commence. The meeting highlighted the “urgent need” for the installation, as Ward 14 continues to grapple with severe water scarcity.
Recognizing the crisis, the Office of the MP committed to sourcing the additional funds required to ensure Ward 14 is not left behind. The delegation resolved to fast-track the search for resources so that a solar-powered borehole can be installed sooner rather than later, fulfilling the original promise of the 2024 development cycle.
