Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe – The excitement was palpable as primary school students from across Matabeleland North gathered to showcase their spelling prowess in the recent Zimbabwe Spelling Bee competition. This event, aimed at promoting literacy and language skills, saw young contestants competing fiercely for a chance to qualify for the national finals.
The competition, held on June 19 for juniors and June 20 for seniors at Don Bosco High School, featured outstanding performances from participants representing various schools. The winners who secured their spots in the upcoming National Spelling Bee Finals include:
- Sashel Sarufu – Coalfields Primary (Position: 1st)
- Mutaswashe Zivengwa – Coalfields Primary (Position: 2nd)
- Ashel Ncube – Coalfields Primary (Position: 3rd)
- Thandekile Masuku – Coalfields Primary (Position: 4th)
- Lee-Anne Lunga – Springfield Primary (Position: 5th)
- Caleb Dhlamini – Baobab Primary (Position: 6th)
- Emmanuel B Moyo – Coalfields Primary (Position: 7th)
- Mavizita Deredzi – Coalfields Primary (Position: 8th)
- Raymond Dzewu – Taunton Primary (Position: 9th)
- Shekinah Gadhluva – Thomas Coulter Primary (Position: 10th)
These exceptional students will represent their schools in the National Spelling Bee Finals, scheduled to take place on September 3rd for juniors and September 4th for seniors at the Stephen Margolis Resort in Waterfalls, Harare.
