Residents in some parts of Victoria Falls are experiencing low water pressure and intermittent supplies as extreme heat, increased demand, power cuts and pipe bursts disrupt the city’s water supply.
In a notice issued on October 27, 2026, the City of Victoria Falls said temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius had increased water consumption beyond the capacity of the supply system.
The local authority said it was managing available water supplies to prevent reservoirs from running dry.
“Recurrent outages interrupt pumping, delaying reservoir replenishment and restoration of normal pressure,” the council said, citing power cuts as one of the factors affecting water supply.
The council also identified pipe bursts and leaks as contributing factors, explaining that supplies are sometimes temporarily switched off to allow repairs.
To manage the situation, the local authority said it was monitoring reservoir levels and rotating water supplies to ensure available water was shared across different areas.
It also said teams were attending to reported pipe bursts and leaks within 24 hours to minimise water losses and service disruptions.
The council urged residents to conserve water, avoid wastage and prioritise essential needs until normal supplies resume.
