This commitment was brought to life at the Chipangano Schools Challenge Cup, held at the Hwange Colliery Stadium over the weekend (3-4 October 2026), where seven schools and young athletes from all Matabeleland North districts came together in a celebration of sporting excellence, talent development, discipline and teamwork.
In a speech read on his behalf, CEO for HCCL and Provincial Chairman for Sports and Recreation in Mat North Mr William Gambiza, reaffirmed the Company’s firm commitment to creating lasting social value in host communities. Through sport and recreation, education, health and other community interventions, HCCL Holdings will continue to take a leading role in implementation of ESG initiatives in the provincial region as part of its broader business strategy.
The Guest of Honour, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Matabeleland North Province Hon. Richard Moyo, commended initiatives that complement Government’s development agenda by empowering young people, strengthening communities and nurturing talent in line with the aspirations of NDS2.
Speaking on behalf of traditional leadership, Chief Wange underscored the importance of partnerships between corporates, Government, schools, traditional leaders and communities in creating opportunities for future generations.
