Chief Dakamela is currently hosting a major celebration called Imiklomelo KaDakamela in Nkayi, Matabeleland North. The event, which began on April 3rd and continues until April 6th, has turned the district into a center of African pride. Hundreds of people have traveled from across the region to attend, with visitors arriving from Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa. The ceremony is also attended by the Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Emily Jesaya.

A highlight of the ceremony is the participation of the Manala Royal Family from Mpumalanga, South Africa. Princess Andile Mabhena presented a special gift to Chief Dakamela on behalf of the royal family. The Princess, recognized as “itshitshi” (a young maiden) in Ndebele culture, was also honored during the event. She was praised for her dedication to protecting and promoting traditional culture among young people.

Dakamela expressed his gratitude to everyone who made the long journey to Nkayi. He emphasized that the ceremony is about more than just awards; it is about bringing different people together to celebrate their shared heritage in peace. While celebrating these cultural ties, the Chief urged Minister Emily Jesaya to prioritize the improvement of the Nkayi road. He noted that many international and local guests faced great difficulty traveling to the event due to the poor condition of the roads. The Chief hopes that better infrastructure will make it easier for people to visit and help the region develop in the future.

As the event continues, it remains a shining example of how tradition and community spirit can bring people together from all over the continent.
