The Hwange Local Board (HLB) will begin road opening and construction works in Baobab North on Monday, 27 July 2026, as part of its efforts to improve road infrastructure in the area.
In a public notice issued on 24 July, the local authority called on residents to remove all materials placed within the road servitude along the main access road to their properties ahead of the commencement of the project.
The notice states that residents should clear soil, gravel, rubble and any other materials that may obstruct construction activities to allow unrestricted access for construction equipment and machinery.
According to the Hwange Local Board, “Residents of Baobab North are requested to remove all materials placed within the road servitude along the main access road to their properties. This includes, but is not limited to, soil, gravel, rubble, and any other items that may obstruct road construction activities.”
The board also warned that existing water polypipes located within the road servitude could be affected during the course of the works. In the notice, the local authority further advised that it will not be held liable for any loss of or damage to materials, water polypipes, or any other items left within the road servitude after construction begins. Residents were therefore urged to remove all such materials before work starts to avoid inconvenience or financial loss.
The road project is expected to improve accessibility, enhance road safety and ease movement for residents and motorists in Baobab North once completed.
Although construction may result in temporary disruptions, the upgraded road network is anticipated to provide long-term benefits through improved connectivity and infrastructure.
The Hwange Local Board expressed appreciation for the cooperation of residents during the implementation of the project, noting in its public notice that “Council appreciates the cooperation of all residents as these works are undertaken to improve the road infrastructure in the area.”
Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians using the area are encouraged to exercise caution and follow all traffic management measures while construction is underway.
