Story by  Hwange Chronicles Editor (s) 34 views

President Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the Fourth Session of the 10th Parliament of Zimbabwe and deliver the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday, 29 September.

The event will take place at the New Parliament Building in Mt Hampden, Harare, starting at 2pm.

According to General Notice 1866 of 2026 issued by National Assembly Speaker Advocate Jacob Mudenda, the President will address a joint sitting of the Senate and the National Assembly during the official opening.

The notice states that the President will set out the Government’s legislative agenda for the Fourth Session of the 10th Parliament before delivering the State of the Nation Address.

The legislative agenda is expected to outline the Government’s priorities for the new parliamentary session and provide direction on the legislation it intends to pursue.

The SONA, meanwhile, is expected to provide an update on national developments and outline the Government’s priorities going forward.

The President’s address will therefore mark the formal beginning of the Fourth Session, with Parliament expected to proceed with the legislative business outlined during the opening.
