Zimbabwean feature film Sizolobola is now available to viewers on AFRICIN, giving audiences an opportunity to watch a locally produced story centred on love, family and cultural differences.
The film, produced by AFRICIN, a Zimbabwean streaming service created to bring local films and African stories to audiences, was first premiered in Harare on 4 July before its Bulawayo premiere last month.
The release comes after audiences had been waiting to watch the film following its premieres.
Sizolobola tells the story of two young lovers, Njabulo, played by radio presenter and actor Exult Ncube, and Makatendeka Seke, played by comedian and actress Madam Boss. The two hope to build a future together, but their relationship faces challenges because they come from different cultural backgrounds. Njabulo is Ndebele while Makatendeka is Shona.
Their relationship brings misunderstandings and tension between their families as they struggle to accept their cultural differences. However, the families eventually find common ground and reach an agreement, showing the importance of understanding and reconciliation. The film explores themes of love, family, cultural expectations and reconciliation, while also bringing Zimbabwe’s different cultural backgrounds together through one story.
Through the experiences of the two families, Sizolobola encourages people to look beyond cultural differences and focus on the values they share, particularly love, respect and family.
Madam Boss and Exult Ncube lead the cast, alongside veteran actress Jesesi Mungoshi, comedian Madlela Skhobokhobo and actor Charles Muzemba, among others.
The film also brings together performers from different areas of Zimbabwe’s entertainment industry, adding to its portrayal of the country’s cultural diversity.
With Sizolobola now available on AFRICIN, audiences can finally watch the story that has been generating interest since its premieres.
